Get Involved
Condon has produced two Nobel Laureates - Linus Pauling and William Murphy. Both Credited their Jeffersonian lifestyle here as significant contributions to their success.
Education is a foundation value of the Condon life. Children get involved at many levels with all age groups. The low teacher-to-student ratio ensures that every child gets the attention they need.
Children learn about community involvement in a way that is often not possible in larger communities. The simplified city government structures are easier for students to understand and apply to the world around them as they enter their adult lives. They see a larger percentage of life experiences, and fulfill a greater role in their education and community.
Condon's students consistently meet and exceed Oregon School Assessment tests. Our record is superior to a large number of Oregon schools, and speaks volumes about the dedication of the teachers in our district who genuinely love working with kids and excel at their jobs.
Opportunities
Service Learning Programs
Service Learning Programs teach local children values. This year students will be involved in helping prepare for Cycle Oregon's visit, the success of which will be celebrated with a barbecue and water balloon fight.
Annually the whole community unites for our Community Clean Up, where the students learn to take pride in their town.
Work Experience
Condon has all types of high school work opportunities, including many that are not available in most other cities. Work experience opportunities on a working farm are unique to small agricultural communities. The local radio station (KGAB) offers a work experience program to high school students that would like to deejay.
Adult Education
Adult education is available. The ESD offers internet classes through distance learning programs that meet the need for a more varied curriculum than our educational staff can provide. Our schools teach and receive live internet classes for adult and youth students alike. Also, community programs and a wealth of civil opportunities keep even the quickest minds involved.
4-H Programs
Condon elementary school youths have the option of signing up for one of our many 4-H programs led by local community members.
Children learn skills and crafts such as cooking, sewing, working with livestock, gardening, etc. They learn about the democratic process within the clubs, with the opportunity to serve as officers.
Future Farmers of America
High School students can make the most of our agricultural environment by enjoying the engaging hands-on activities offered through FFA.
